Quote, "We really appreciate all the support we've gotten from The Ottawa Sound since we started out. We can't wait to release our debut album, because I don't think anyone actually knows what we truly sound like yet based on the two songs we have out now, since every song on the album is so varied from track to track. Unless you've been to a show, then you sorta might know. We bust out the guitars, throw in some strange sounds, and get a bit darker than what we've released so far. It's kind of interesting to be in the pop category because pop is such a wide spectrum. You've got your Katy Perry's, you've got like... Michael Jackson, and you've got the Beatles, who were all pop acts in completely different ways. What we make definitely has pop-like qualities, but we're hoping that the rest of this album challenges that... but at the same time... not. We sort of have this genre identity crisis going on where we want to push the boundaries of pop but not be limited to those boundaries all at once. I don't know, we just want to make good music that we like and hope to hear in the world. Hopefully the album will be out by summer. We're pretty slow perfectionists. In the mean time, this award is pretty cool, very appreciated, thanks very much!"

Metal/Hardcore/Deathcore Artist Of The Year: Martyrs

Martyrs was up against some pretty stiff competition for this category, but the people have spoken and Martyrs wins artist of the year in the Metal category.

Punk/Pop Punk Artist Of The Year: Bearings

Ottawa's favourite Pop Punk Band in 2017 was Bearings! They had a big year in 2017, they signed with Pure Noise, went on multiple tours, released their major label debut, Nothing Here Is Permanent and no matter how busy they were they still made time for the local scene.

Album Of The Year: Nighttime In Kansas "Solstice"

The nicest band in Ottawa, Nighttime In Kansas, has won Album Of The Year, for their EP, Solstice! They're releasing a new EP this spring so keep your eyes peeled.
